Here Comes Hurricane Earl

storm insurance

If you don’t already have Flood insurance its too late to buy it now. So the only real advice I can give those that live near water and are going to be directly effected by Hurricane Earl is batten down the hatches and protect yourself as best you can.

Do You Need Flood Insurance?

flood insurance

According to III.org Flood insurance covers direct physical losses by flood and losses resulting from flood-related erosion caused by heavy or prolonged rain, coastal storm surge, snow melt, blocked storm drainage systems, levee dam failure or other similar causes. To be considered a flood, waters must cover at least two acres or affect two properties.

Protect Your Home from Water Backup and Sump Pump Failure

sump pump failure

Water and Sump Pump Backup covers drains, discharges, sump pumps, and toilets. Basically any place where excess water can “backup” into your home. Most often this happens in the form of six inches of water on your basement floor. The water is dirty and disgusting and its going to cost you a few grand to clean up and dry out your basement, not including the damages to your personal property (which is also NOT covered without the Water Backup endorsement).
