For a while now Google Plus experts have debated the impact of the Google +1 on search results, PageRank and even the mystical Author Rank. But it was all just speculation, until this week.
This week Google announced a major change to the functionality of the Google +1 Button. Now when you +1 a post or update Google is algorithmically determining whether or not to place that activity into the Google Plus streams of people who have you circled. The Google +1 Button has now taken on a quality similar to that of the Facebook Like (without the rampant gaming of the system and buying Likes).
Its looks something like this:
