Content Warfare PodcastEpisode #12 of the Content Warfare Podcast {episode index} is a solo mission…

It’s just me, you and the microphone and we dive deep into a few topics at the crux of creating awesome content and getting found online:

  • Creating Art – specifically I discuss why viewing your business blog as a piece of artwork can radically increase the success you achieve.
  • Shipping Ideas – I take a page from Seth Godin, or at least use Seth as muse, and discuss why an unconscious willingness to ship ideas out the door is a time tested differentiator between the successful and the average.
  • Failure – I give a very recent and very specific example of an idea that I thought was Aces that turned out to be, for the most part, a complete failure.

This podcast is NOT about tactics, it’s about mindset.

I wrote 215 blog posts for my insurance agency blog in 2012.  That experience taught me without doubt or hesitation that success lies less in tricks, tips and tactics and more in the mentality you have with creating new content.

Ideas are a gift. Creating is choice.

  1. Hi Ryan! This was brilliant – I will definitely subscribe on Itunes and write a great review. I loved it!

It’s so important that you just write, create and ship. If you’ve had thought – it’s valuable. Even if it’s not perfect, there must be value in it.

Publishing good ideas, badly presented, is better than not publishing.

    • Alex,

Thanks so much buddy. I always ask myself… How do I know if this has value or not if I don’t create it?

A thought that may seem trivial or simple or silly could change someone entire perspective on their work.

You never know if it doesn’t exist.

      All the best!

      Hanley

  2. I listened to this episode this morning. Next thing I know, while I’m in the shower, I’m saying out loud, “I am an artist.” On the way to work, “I am an artist.” And now as I sit at my desk looking at my piles of work, “I am an artist.”

I’m feeling a calming effect when I look at life, work and play from this perspective. I feel a little more free to create content. It’s a little easier to find solutions to my clients problems.

I took a lot out of Godin’s “The Dip”. But perhaps the 2 words that hit home for me the most were a few of the last words of the book-”We’re waiting”.

It’s time to create without striving for perfection. It’s time to be remarkable.

Also, loved hearing your passion come alive as you read the blog post. Nice work.

    • Keith,

      “We’re waiting…” Dude as I read your comment I got chills… “We’re waiting…”

WTF are you going to produce today that dents the world… “We’re waiting…”

I love that and I love that the your inner artist is starting to stir.

As always appreciate the feedback buddy,

      Hanley

  3. Brent Kelly says:

Ryan, this was my favorite podcast yet. No interviews, just you showing our passion. I love Seth’s latest book. It is really getting my juices flowing. Love your honesty on this about failure as well. No fear, just ship. Love it.

    • Thanks Brent… The solo podcasts are fun to do, but you never know if listeners will connect with the material. When you have a great guest dropping knowledge you know the content has value.

I’m glad you enjoyed it dude.

      All the best,

      Hanley
