Why Doesn’t Your Organization Have a Facebook Fan Page?

images 23The Albany Insurance Professional has a Facebook Fan Page (Become a Fan! Its Fun!), why doesn’t your organization?  Here are some common excuses:

  • Facebook is only for kids and college students? WRONG!
    • The fastest growing demographic is those 35 years old and older
  • Facebook is another social media fad that will burn out? VERY WRONG!
    • More than 300 million active users with over 50% of users logging in everyday
  • No one pays attention to Facebook Fan Pages? SUPER VERY WRONG!
    • More than 10 million users become fans of Pages each day

Ignorance is NOT bliss when it comes to Facebook and the platforms marketing power.  Far too many Insurance Agencies are currently ignoring Facebook as a social media medium.  Consider the fact that the average Facebook user has 130 friends (All Statistics via Facebook.com).  That means every time a user becomes a Fan of your organization 130 people see your organization’s name pass across friends’ screens.  Additionally, your Fans can suggest friends, can post testimonials, can provide feedback, and interact with agency customer service reps.

I’m pretty sure I just heard you say, “Wow… That’s Powerful.”

Let me remind you to become a fan on the Sidebar:

If you want to be credible, you should know how to talk about social media! Medium is the singular form of media. Therefore, it should be "ignoring Facebook as a social medium," not "a social media medium." That's like saying Facebook is a social platforms platform. FYI!
  • Lynn,

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to explain to me the difference between media and medium.

In this case I was trying to speak in terms that all readers would understand not just those versed in Social Media.

    Thanks for reading.
