Believe it or not, but you can insure just about everything these days. There is pet insurance, celebrities and sports stars insure their body parts (see Ronaldo the soccer player), there is vampire and werewolf bite insurance, alien abduction insurance, even insurance against the added expense of having twins and now in a true example of capitalism, there is Fantasy Football Insurance.
To most Americans I’m sure fantasy football insurance seems like a silly, ridiculous idea, but Darren Rovell of CNBC.com estimates that Tom Brady’s season ending injury last year shifted over a $150 million in winnings. That’s a lot of dork dollars…
Maybe you think these guys aren’t legit? Most seemingly screwball ideas, such as Fantasy Football Insurance, often have a shady feel to them. Not the case with FantasySportsInsurance.com, according to their website all policies are underwritten by an “A” rated insurance carrier and brokered by Intermarket Insurance Agency Inc. (www.intermarketins.com).
How does Fantasy Football Insurance work? You have four options which allow you to pick the number of players covered and how many games they must be out to collect. Premiums are calculated on 10% per $100 of league entrance fee. Only 50 players, determined before the season starts, are eligible for the policy. For more details I recommend checking out the site.
Fantasy football insurance seems like a great way to ease your spouse’s anxiety over the grand you dropped to draft a team this year…
Non-football fantasy players don’t fret, you are not being discriminated against, Fantasysportsinsurance.com also offers fantasy Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Nascar, and Golf insurance.
